Stack v2.1
I've sent Stack v2.1 off to Shaun (STE) for packaging and release, so we'll see it available on Cydia soon, assuming it passes his testing.
I've updated the Stack project website, but here are the new features:
• Adjustable Stack Position (bottom right / center are currently the only options, more coming soon!)
• Uninstalled apps are now handled properly (no white icons left in the Stack!)
• Smoother Fan Animation
• Aliased (jagged) edges on icons are now smooth
• Calendar icon now displays properly, and updates in line with the current date
• Settings are available in Settings.app
• Icon hit-rects have been improved, meaning it's a lot easier to tap items at the top of the Stack
Now, there are a few features I'd been working on that I've pulled from this release:
• Shadow behind the Stack - it's coming soon, but I had some last minute issues
• Dynamic positioning - yes, you'll be able to move the Stack anywhere in the Button Bar that you like! Soon!
• Display Option, Single Icon or Cascaded Icons - I had it mostly coded, but in the interest of time I've pulled it from this release
My New Year's Resolution is to manage my projects better, and this means more updates! As I finish the features, I will push the updates to you through Cydia. Hopefully no more long waits!
So, Happy New Year everyone, and keep at me for updates! I get distracted easily =)

Aww man, Single icon option was the only feature i was waiting for. Will it be released soon?
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSSSS HALELLUJAH!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! What do you mean by moving the Stack around the Button Bar? What is the Button Bar? And also when do you think the next update will come?
ReplyDelete@jessy next week =]
ReplyDeleteAny news on Lights Out?
ReplyDeleteOff^
ReplyDeleteSweet! Thanks so much for your hard work and effort. Apps like this really make a jail broken iPhone a thousand times better than a regular one.
ReplyDeletedude....awesome, keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteDo u have to install stacks 2.0 to see the update or Ste has posted it yet?
ReplyDeleteSTE is taking his sweet time getting this up...
ReplyDeleteThats nice to hear, more waiting please
ReplyDeleteAnyone know why STE is taking so long? @ Steven: Can you upload with Modmyi if STE takes longer please?
ReplyDeleteOne of the best tweaks for SB I've ever used :).
ReplyDeleteNow all it needs is a single icon option (cascaded icons look out of place somewhat and don't work well with any of the pseudo-reflective dock themes), then it will be perfect IMO.
I would love it if you could speed up Stack a little bit (if possible). It takes a bit too long to open the window with the apps.
ReplyDeleteit is still not up on cydia yet :(
ReplyDelete(sorry if I sound impatient and sound like a whining 1 2year old)
This is taking too long.
ReplyDeleteAnd i don't think we're sounding impatient.
Thanks for the update.

ReplyDeleteDid you tell Ste to not release that version so that you can release the new version with all the features you previously removed?
And did you really achieve Dynamic positioning
or is that a planned feature?
@jessy absolutely not, I'm waiting for him to release 2.1.
ReplyDeleteAnd the dynamic positioning comes next, but atm you can choose bottom corner or centered.
@Steven Troughton-Smith
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be better to release threw some other source like Modmyi for example.
Can you possible upload to a file hosting site online or even here it is small enough? It is been a week and again not to sound impatient, but it has been a while.
ReplyDelete@ Steven: i agree with jessy. You should release through ModMyI
ReplyDeletewhere is stack 2.1?
ReplyDeletewhata release, happy new year........ 9 days later, nothing
ReplyDeleteIndeed....been checking cydia every day for the release, and ste still only has the 2.0 version.
ReplyDeleteCould you please upload a self install package to a site like rapidshare by any chance? Or release through another source?
@All
ReplyDeleteSTE has been ill, that's why it's not released yet. I will not be hosting it anywhere else.
S
Could you please upload a self install package to a site like rapidshare by any chance?
ReplyDeleteany approximate time of release then?
ReplyDeleteYou guys need to be patient. Steven is kind enough to do a lot of work on this and provide it without charge.
ReplyDeleteHe said it's been submitted and it will show up soon...
I'm very grateful that Stack exists -- it's one of the more useful utility programs that are on my phone!
v2.1 is finally up on cydia. it's awesome and well worth the wait. there is only one problem i've been having. when i click on the stack for the first time, it seems to have shifted up a bit. the only way to get it back down is to respring. but once i click on it again, it shifts back up. any ideas?
ReplyDeleteAm I being stupid or something? I cannot seem to find the Settings for Stack anywhere!!
ReplyDeleteI do have Supreme Preferences installed, is this causing the Stacks Settings to go hide or something?
Update:
ReplyDeletesorted it, it appears that Supreme Preferences isn't to blame, I had Extended Preferences installed too, that must have been hiding it!
Carlos I was having the same problem_ And had Extended Prefs installed and active and not seeing Stacks in the Settings List either_
ReplyDeleteI even had emailed Steve in the middle of last nite for some insight_ And was hunting down an older version to simply reinstall just so I could add other Apps back to the Dock as my Stack was defaulting to the dead center w/o any Pref adjustment_
Thanks for the tip - that solved my issue as well_
Other than the Pref INterference - Stacks 2.1 is really nice - great improvement_
2.1 does seem to be a LOT better, though as been mentioned above, the cascaded icons do shift up by roughly 4 pixels or so after first use (noticed since I made a reflective dock which mirrors the stacks), which can look a bit buggy after a respring if a reflective dock is in use, though it's really insignificant since after it moves into the 'correct' location after opening the stack once it remains there.
ReplyDeleteAlso noticed that stacks works a lot more fluidly and the icons no longer pop up from off-screen if more than 3 are in the stack. The removal of the settings cog underneath the stack icon is also a great improvement.
Overall thanks for the awesome utility and definitely looking forward to 2.2 and the single icon option :)
[As a tip for those who want to have a full 4 icon dock, look for an app called iBlank in cydia and simply generate a blank icon to place underneath the stack]
So I'm sure you've been asked this before. Is there any way of having multiple stacks? I've been looking at your Stacks program and trying to see if there is any way to mod it but I'm at a stand still (even though I havent done too much research). Your stacks program is ALREADY amazing as is. But nothing like a little imagination and high hopes, right? =) K well just was wondering. Thanks in advance for any answer you can provide. -Phil
